DART Presentation: Development of Next Generation Pyrimidinedione Inhibitors of HIV

December 10, 2010

Tracy Hartman, Director of Anti-Infective Research, presented a poster entitled "Development of Next Generation Pyrimidinedione Inhibitors of HIV" at the 2010 Frontiers in Drug Development and Antiretroviral Therapies (DART) in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The data presented identified the lead pyrimidinedione compounds chosen based on reduction of HIV replication by inhibiting both virus entry and reverse transcriptase. IQP-0528 in the cyclopropyl series demonstrated enhanced genetic barrier to resistance and was the most metabolically stable in live microsomes. The data generated was supported by a NIH Phase I Small Business grant that was won by Dr. Buckheit in 2008.
